September Home Sales Improve!

The real estate market on North Whidbey seems to be doing better than the rest of the nation.  While the latest release from the National Association of Realtors says that home sales nationwide for September 2010 are down 19.1% compared to September 2009, here on North Whidbey our sales are only down 9.7% from September last year! The bad news is that while September sales nationally were up 10% over August 2010, our sales remained flat between the two months this year.

Meanwhile, on South Whidbey, sales were down 48% between August 2010 and September 2010, and down 39% from September 2009.  Central Whidbey fared better, with sales up 20% between August 2010 and September 2010, and also up 20% from September 2009 (although 20% only represents an increase of 1 sale for the month over previous numbers!)

About halhovey

A transplant from the east coast, I spent many years living in the deserts of Arizona and Nevada before finally finding a little piece of paradise on Whidbey Island that I call home. This is where I chose to raise my kids, set down roots, and eventually retire. In my blog I hope to share timely information and statitistics about our local real estate market, as well as a few of the people, places and homes around Whidbey Island that I find special, or interesting.
